How to become a qualified Dental Nurse

What is a Dental Nurse?
Dental Nurses provide ‘chair-side support’ for the dental team, which includes dentists, dental therapists, hygienists and technicians. It is an important role for both the patients and the dental professionals working in the practice.
Here is how you can become a fully qualified Dental Nurse in 12 months in 3 steps:
Step 1– Enrol for the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing which is a nationally recognised qualification awarded by the National Examination Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN).
Step 2– If you are not already working in a practice, we will work with you to find a placement in a Dental Practice. You will study the theory part of the training at the School of Dental Nursing normally attending classes fortnightly between 10am to 5pm. While you are studying for the Diploma you will also be working as a trainee Dental Nurse which allows you to earn while you learn!
Step 3– Successful completion of the Diploma in Dental Nursing will enable you to register as a Dental Care Professional with the General Dental Council (GDC) and practice as a qualified Dental Nurse.
Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who has a general interest in dentistry and would like to make a career as a Dental Nurse. It is available for people already working in a dental practice and also for those looking for a career or career change.
Entry requirements
You can usually work as a trainee dental nurse and study for the diploma in dental nursing without formal academic qualifications but you will normally be required to take a literacy test to ensure you have the necessary language competency. The School of Dental Nursing can provide training in English Language if necessary.
How much does it cost?
Course Registration Fee: £150.00 (Non-Refundable).
Course Fee: £1400.00 payable in two six monthly instalments (additional examination fee is also payable).
Career prospects:
On gaining the qualification will become a registered Dental nurse which will provide a satisfying career. Additionally, it provides an opening to gain additional qualifications working as, for example a Dental Therapist, a Dental Hygienist, a Dental Nurse tutor or a specialist in Dental Radiography.
